Personal Finance in Claude is a new beta feature Anthropic announced on 5 November 2026 that lets you connect your bank and card accounts and ask Claude about your money in plain language.

What Personal Finance in Claude does

Once you connect accounts, Claude can add up spending, sort it into categories, explain unfamiliar terms (our own glossary covers common AI ones), and build a chart from the numbers. Access is read-only: Anthropic says Claude cannot move, manage, or invest your money. It is rolling out in beta this week on Pro, Max, and Ultra plans, US only, per Claude’s release notes. Anthropic’s own page adds a caution worth repeating: Claude can make mistakes in its answers, so check important figures against your bank.

What it means for you

For a small business owner or freelancer, a tool that reads spending and explains it in plain words can save time searching through statements. It is not investment or accounting advice. Treat any total it gives as a starting point, not a final figure.

What to do this week

  1. If it is not available to you yet, no action is needed.
  2. If you get access, connect one account first and check a single total against your bank’s own app before trusting a bigger summary.
  3. Read the security and privacy section on the announcement page before connecting anything.
  4. Use the six checks for an AI answer on any number Claude gives you, as you would for reading a contract with AI.
